"I restored an artefact in Anji" — a real dig site classroom
History class with no classroom. At the Anji Ancient City National Archaeological Site Park, children work beside the Bawudun royal tomb of the Yue state — a 2,500-year-old aristocratic burial mound archaeologists nickname the "Oriental earthen-stone pyramid", newly opened to the public in May 2025. In the country's first archaeology workshop for schoolchildren, each child cleans, matches, glues and fills a shattered pot — fingertips on clay pressed by a craftsman two millennia ago. The pot goes home; the sentence "I restored an artefact in Anji" stays longer.
Park entry ¥28 · workshop about 2 hours · ages 7+ (younger children pair up) · book ahead, limited bench slots
