Yunshang Grassland (Cloud Prairie)

A 1,168 m mountain resort with six zones: the highland meadow and its Hobbit cottages, a 30-ride cliff park with an 80 m cantilevered glass stair, a Chinese-fantasy town that only comes alive after dark, four summit hotels and a 300,000 m² ski field. It runs 5–8°C cooler than the valley, which is exactly why guests from Manila, Jakarta and Bangkok book it in July.

China Bamboo Sea

Rolling hills of dense moso bamboo with shaded boardwalks and a viewing tower over the green waves. Gentle enough for grandparents and toddlers, cool even at noon, and still the cheapest big-name sight in the county.

Anji's little Iceland

Deep Blue Plan (mine-lake café)

An abandoned mine flooded with impossible turquoise water, ringed by dark rock, with a glass café perched on the rim. Your ticket includes a coffee. Go on a weekday morning before the tour buses, or at golden hour.

Best for: Slow mornings, couples, moody photos

Wading streams + 100 waterfalls

Hidden Dragon Waterfalls

Zhejiang's largest waterfall cluster. The trail climbs through creek water the whole way. Bring non-slip water shoes and let the kids wade. After rain it is thunderous; in dry weeks, a gentle splash walk.

Yucun Village

A former mining village that shut its quarries and became China's model green village. Bamboo-lined lanes, an art space in the old cement factory, tea fields, and the best village coffee in the county.

Reservoir at 900 m + night sky

Jiangnan Tianchi (Sky Lake)

An upper reservoir for a giant pumped-storage power station, sitting at 900 m like a mirror. The winding drive up is half the fun; winter brings Anji's small ski slope and an observatory for dark-sky nights.

Café & homestay cluster

Xiaoyin · Half-Day Village

A renovated village turned into a walkable cluster of independent cafés, bakeries, craft shops and homestays. Zero entrance fee and the highest café density in the county — the perfect loose afternoon.

When to come

Four seasons, four different Anji

If you are coming from a tropical country, June–August is the season that surprises people most: the mountain is genuinely cool, and the meadow is at its greenest.

What to order in a bamboo county

Anji cooking is mountain farmhouse food: bamboo in every form, free-range chicken, river fish, and a tea culture that goes into the frying pan.

竹林散养鸡汤 Bamboo-forest free-range chicken pot	The house dish of every farmhouse — chicken raised among the bamboo, simmered for hours.
笋干烧肉 Pork braised with dried bamboo shoots	Anji's comfort dish; the dried shoots concentrate the mountain flavour.
竹筒饭 Bamboo-tube rice	Glutinous rice steamed inside a fresh bamboo joint, eaten straight from the tube.
白茶虾 White-tea shrimp	River shrimp flash-fried with Anji white tea — the county's most elegant plate.
腌笃鲜 Yan Du Xian (spring bamboo & pork soup)	The spring-only soup that locals plan their year around.
油焖春笋 Oil-braised spring bamboo shoots	March–April only. Simple, sweet, impossible to replicate outside Anji.

Halal & vegetarian: dedicated halal restaurants are rare in a rural county. With three days' notice we arrange Muslim-friendly farmhouse cooking (separate utensils, no pork/lard, halal-certified chicken where available) or full vegetarian menus at selected homestays.
